How Murdering female infants?

In India, especially in Tamil Nadu, mainly 2 district people are killing their girl babies. Their reasons are unbelievable and stupid. In the “MADURAI” district (Usilampatty Block) The people believe that girl babies bring a curse to their family and God. They may keep one or two girls in one family but she will be treated as a slave. If a family will have another baby girl they will immediately kill her. The whole family and community will cooperate with this murder. Also if a baby is born in the Tamil calendar, from July 17 to August 17, the month called “Aady” the baby will immediately be killed. This they do as an act of worship, a sacrifice of animals, to their Hindu God. “HOW TERRIBLE!” Here at our home we have 9 babies, most of them born in the month of Aady. Their parents tried to kill them, but God had a plan for them. He saved their lives and God gave us a precious gift to care for. “Praise the Lord!”


In another district called “SELAM” (Kollimail Hills) they practice murdering as well, just in a different way. In the hills there are 4 very famous Hindu priests. As soon as a baby is born, male or female, people bring their child to the priests. The priests keep the babies and bring them to Idols for worship. After some time they come out to the people. Everyone waits in anticipation. If they say, “OK, keep this baby with you." The parents bring them back to home. But if they say “NO” our God doesn't like this baby, then immediately the baby is killed or brought into the jungle. Many babies are killed this way. Now some missionaries are doing social work and evangelism among these people. And we have seen some change, but still the tragedy still continues. We have conducted a “Infanticide Eradication Awareness Program” and shared the good news of God to these people. We are praying for a transformation among these people. Yes! God can change their mind and lives.

How they prepare to kill the babies?

Everyone has a different method to kill their baby. When we first heard about these methods our whole body started shaking! People go to the hospital to deliver a baby they come prepared. If the baby is female, they immediately kill her. Some people pour “Lemon Juice” into the baby’s nose. After 5 to 10 minutes the baby will die. Some people put the “Raw baddies” in the baby’s throat, again after 5 or 10 minutes the baby will die. Some make a poison which is made by grass and leaves and others put the child into “Hot water”. A rich family will give money to midwifes and tell them to kill the child. Some unmerciful midwifes take and kill them without a second thought. Other common methods are throwing them into the dustbin, jungle, river, pool or well. Dogs or other animals will have eaten the child by morning. There are also many other horrendous methods.
